Quasimode cover some of the same territory as their Japanese contemporaries Sleepwalker — an older style of soul jazz — played live, mostly with acoustic instrumentation — in ways the hearken back to the best older work on labels like Impulse, Strata.

  'The Land Of Freedom' is a stunning jazz album on Geneon by Japanese 4 piece band Quasimode. Quasimode formed in since which time they have already gained strong support in their native land. They have had releases on Freestyle Records, Inpartment and Columbia and now thanks to Jazzanova's Sonar Kollektiv they will also get a chance to do.
