  Former Massive Attack member, Tricky, strikes gold with his debut CD, Maxinquaye. This album has an almost surreal effect to it. The fact that the lyrics can be undistinguishable at times adds to that effect. Each track has its own mood to it and this is a /5().

  Apr 14,  · Both Topley-Bird and Tricky had one daughter Mina Mazy born on 19 March and she sadly died on 8 May So she was born one month after the release of Maxinquaye too! Aftermath was the very early lead single/video which was released in January put out over one year before the album, Maxinquaye did finally appeared in February .

  The juxtaposition of Tricky & Topley-Bird's vocals is a treat throughout the album; the beats are throbbingly sensual, and the lyrics often have a hint of menace to them. Tricky's debut is in my opinion, his best, and probably the best place to start for those new to his music.
